Way to Go Jennifer

Yesterday was very exciting ....... A 1st Birthday ........But when I got to the school to pick up the kids afterschool it got even better.....

Jennifer came out all smiles and said Mommy I have something special to show you !!!

Well here Jennifer made the Student Spotlight for the Kindergarten class this last quarter. They only pick two students from each grade. I was sooooooo HAPPY !!! Very Proud of her. So we had a extra reason to be Happy Yesterday !!

So here is Jennifer !!!!!






Plus now we also have a good reason to get pizza. Thanx Jennifer from Mommy.

Wednesday's Walk - A Special Teacher

Well this week's is a new memory. One that I just had the pleasure of seeing last night. One that I will never forget. My son Ridge his teacher Mrs Lori Browning got the " Teacher of the Year Award "

What a honor and to a wonderful , christian lady. I just love her to pieces and I know when I found out who Ridge had for this coming school yr I was so very excited. Just a little bit about her ..... She is a mother herself and is very devoted to her work. She goes to school early or stays late. Always working on something.

I have a couple memories of her. One was last year when the school district was talking about the budget and closing one of the 6 grade schools here. It happened to be her school. Lori made Ribbons that said Save our School. She worked hard on a plan that would save the school money. I attended most of the school board meetings because I really cared about the school my children were attending. What I remembered most about her was these Children are our Tomorrows. So very true. She prayed with others and you know what the school did not close.

Also the school has a garden where all the classes learn how to plant and take care of and harvest a garden. Since our school is year round it works pretty well. Last fall she taught my son's class how to harvest , make money and do something good with the money they made at there Farmer's Market. She used Math for the money and social work for the good they did with the money made. Money was split part went to a young girl that attends school there that has cancer and the Nevada Food Bank

One other thing I love is every morning at the start of class, she takes 5 minutes of quiet time. It's almost like a prayer time but she can't say that. Every child is to think of something or someone during that time.

So last night was a great memory for my son and us. She asked that anyone in her class that could make it to the meeting come and stand with her tonite while she received her award. When she was given a chance to speak she said This is my reason I received this tonight because These are the Children of Tomorrow and without them it wouldn't have been possible. So Congratulations to Mrs Lori Browning !! What a Awesome Teacher !!

Momentous Monday

Today I'm joining in on a new blog hop that I found from A Moment Cherished. Just click on the button if you would like to join in and link up.

This happened this past week at school in my son Ridge's class. Every morning they have 5 minutes of quiet time , just to think about the day or anything special on their mind. The teacher can't say prayer but that is what it is like.

Well when the five minutes was almost up a girl in the class started to cry. She said she was losing her home. Her parents had been talking and she was scared she would have no where to live. The teacher told me Ridge was sitting next to her and he said Don't cry my Mom always told me as long as you have each other ( Family & God ) you can do anything. The teacher said that is so true and so then the teacher took her and talked. She was so proud of Ridge to not be afraid to jump right in and say something. There also is a boy in the class and she told me a lot of other students make fun of him but Ridge is the only one that can really talk to him. It makes me feel good that none of my children are afraid to say what they feel in there heart.

What a special moment , I wish I could have been there. It was still so great to be told when I picked him up afterschool.

Missing You Alot Today

A car accident ........ 29 yrs ago ....... I miss you .....

I wish Heaven had a phone so I could hear your voice again.. I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which i'll never pa...rt. God has you in his arms.. I have you in my heart.

I wish so many times things would have been so different but I know God has his reasons for everything that happens. I would love to call and tell you how things turned out but I know you already know. I miss the fact that I can't come bring you a purple rose like you used to buy me all the time so today I bought one and put it in vase just for you.

I still miss you ......... the hurt will never end but someday I know I will see ya again so until then see ya later........ Miss ya my friend !!!

A Different Kind of Fundraiser ...........

School Fundraiser - Cow Plop

You're probably thinking what is that ?????

I remember the first yr my children attended school there I thought I'm from Farm Country in Ohio. We never had anything like this ........

Here is what they do they have squares no certain amount. They sell squares for $ 5 dollars a piece. They have a wk to sell squares. Then on Friday they bring 2 cows to the school. They wait for the cow to plop in a square. Sometimes it takes a while. They usually raise over $ 1500 dollars so usually 1st place is around $ 500 dollars and second is $ 300 dollars. The rest of the money goes to the school for fieldtrips , any school supplies that they need to operate. It really is great because a lot of people donate a set amount every yr. The kids really enjoy that. The whole week they have a theme ....... on Farming ..... on Friday everyone is supposed to dress up like a Farmer of course.

Also they have a Mooing Contest ..... which they have students that want try to be the best. They give away 1st 2nd 3rd places , which are 2 movie tickets for each place. Also for just trying they give out a Milky Way candy bar. It's so cute !!! The kids have a blast.

Also on Friday they let the kids go out and pet the cow while there. This yr they had the cow over by the kindergarten recess area. So I took a few pics on my camera phone , when I dropped Jennifer off at noon.

God is so Good

Yesterday we woke up to this ............. SNOW !!!!!!

I'm so ready for Spring and so are the kids. Jennifer had a field trip to Farm Days since it was earth day. It is held outside at the fairgronds. My first thought was how terrible of a day. I watched the weather and they said the snow should stay in the mountains. Of course No such Luck ........

I thought of the seasons and how things should be...... Spring , Summer , Fall and Winter.



In Nevada we deal with a lot of wind. Which sometimes blows very strong. The other day while I was walking to get the kids at school and thinking ........

God is very powerful and strong.







Then I thought of how God is in control of everything. How he knows what the day holds for us. How he knows what the weather will be. How it is amazing the way God takes care of us all. So you know we just have to trust in God and he will lead us in the direction he wants. So I thought a few favorite verses of mine.


"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."
Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV)


"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Knowing how great our God is and that he can carry us through whatever storm in our life brings us.

God is great and God is so Good.

So we should thank him no matter what the day holds for everyday is a blessing.

Jennifer ended up having a great time for her field trip even if we had a little snow.

Just A Week To Go

Well here we are one week from the BIG DAY !!!!

Next Thursday Carly will be one. A year has passed by so quickly. Seems like I just had her. Time just moves on .....

Wednesday's Walk - My Sister " Colleen "

Today I'm remembering my sister Colleen McCune. A wonderful sister , A great friend and a awesome wife and Mommy. We used to spend so much time together doing so many things. Shopping , Trips , Working together , just hangin out. There was a time when we didn't get along but for the most part we did. There are five yrs between us. She is the youngest in my family. She is very involved in the youth group at her church and is the leader of there puppet ministry also. She also helps out in Scouts w/her youngest Anthony. She is a pretty busy woman. Recently she and her husband both lost there jobs but Jeff has found a little work and she has done some babysitting and work for there church. She knows God will see them through this time just as he has before.

I want to share a beautiful time that I remember my sister , her wedding day was very special. Jeff had a son Blake who was 3 yrs old when they married. Not only did she marry Jeff but she married Blake that day. After she said her vows to Jeff. She turned to Blake who was the ringbearer and she made a promise to him to always be there as a step-mother and a friend. They had a small ring for Blake that day that had there wedding date engraved in the inside of the ring. She placed it on his finger. When they walked out of the church together it was Jeff , Colleen and Blake all hand in hand. What a wonderful memory of her as a Mommy and wife.

I miss my sister a lot since the move but we talk once a week and I look forward to when I get to go back to Ohio to visit So Colleen I love you bunches all the way from Nevada.

Today's Devotion

Psalm 84:11 (NIV). For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.......

Thoughts on This Verse... God doesn't hold back on his goodness! In fact, the Father loves to give his children gifts. These gifts are all encompassing.

These gifts are gladly given. How do I know?

Three ways: 1) I've been repeatedly blessed; 2) I've seen what God has done to bless his people through the centuries; and 3) his Word promises this to be so.

God has blessed me with so much even through the Good and the Bad he is always there. He is always there to bless you always. God is Good !!!

Wow I have a great one for this week.

My daughter Jennifer who is 6 yrs old still has her Kindergarden teacher amazed. Thursday evening Jennifer asked for some paper. She is always busy drawing so at first I didn't ask what she was doing. Then she started cutting squares out of the paper. I seen she had went and got these little books they had been given at school. She had a A , B , C and D one. They just had a few words in there with a picture. I would say about 6 words per book. I watched but was putting Carly to sleep so I didn't ask her what she was doing. After I got Carly to sleep I asked her. She said there was a student in her class that didn't get the books so she wanted to make her the same ones. Here she was writing the word and drawing a picture. She sat there for almost a Hour and a half and finished them. I stapled them together for her. She put them in her backpack for the little girl. I asked her if the teacher would have any extra and she said I wanted to make them for her. Wow I'm so amazed that a child at the age of six could sit there and work that hard. Friday when I went to pick up Jennifer at school. Her teacher asked me Did you see what Jennifer had done ???? I said Yes and I was so surprised myself. She said I have taught for yrs and have never seen someone that young be that thoughtful. We both had tears in our eyes and I thank God so much to know that Jennifer has such a caring way about someone in her class and didn't want them to feel left out. It really makes me feel good as a parent that she would do that. In her class last quarter they were learning about sharing and being nice to one another. That's one memory I will never forget.
