Scary Time @ the Park

Friday October 15th , 2010.
It was a emotional day for me but I also had a terrible scare that took my mind off at what the day really meant for me.

Ridge and the girls wanted to go to the skatepark. It was the last day of there 3 week break. I have been letting them go over without me. So after lunch , they left. Well I was doing some stuff at home , Carly was watching Dora. Next thing I know Thaniqua is screaming Ridge needs help. She said two boys are trying to take his skateboard from him at the park. Jared just happened to be here and he went with Thaniqua. I was scared for them. Bill a neighbor that works at the park was there and was helping Ridge. These boys who were at least 20 yrs old was chasing Ridge down. We bought Ridge a cheap board at a yard sale for five dollars a few weeks ago. This kid was trying to say that it was his. Ridge made it home but the guys were still after him. Crying and scared I told Ridge just give him the board. At that point it wasn't worth all that. The cops were called and I told the cop I didn't care about the board , I didn't want those guys after my son. The guy couldn't prove it was his but I told him to keep it. Ridge didn't want it either. My whole point to the guys was that's not how you go about getting something back. Especially to a child. The cop agreed with me.

So I have a old cell phone that I don't use if and when we let the kids go to the park. They will have a phone for them to use for help. It's just one of those things you never think would happen. Right now the kids don't feel like going without me.

It was so sweet Friday afternoon after things calmed down Ridge told Thaniqua thanks for being brave and helping me get Mom. I'm just glad the workers at the park stepped up and helped my child. I'm glad for any child that they were watching. I'm also glad Jared just happened to be here. I'm also glad God was watching over it all. God is Good.

OMGOSH!
Bless their hearts they had to be scared to death...why do adults bully little kids for?...or teens bullying the little kids if makes me so upset! You have such sweet kids,I'm sorry this happened to them.
We had our share of stuff last week too, our neighbor's 13 year old son shoved Samuel down and I saw it all ( Samuel was playing with the neighborhhod kittens and the teen boy walked right over and shoved Samuel down and the teen boy said, your a brat and I've been trying to get you for along time!),and the boys mom said,oh that was not my kid he'd never do that...I was steaming mad! I said, well I saw him and you can deny it all you want...ugh some people I guess that's why that boy is like he is learned from his mom!

:( Aw. Poor kid! What brats would mess with a little kid over a skate board??? Geez. And to have the cops called. You poor thing, I don't know if I would have been more ticked or upset. Hm.

It is so sad when you can't even send your kids to the park. So glad you the police were called. The cell phone is a good idea until someone steals it. It really makes me made that people like that exist in our world.

Are you serious!? Please tell me the cops did something to those idiots. 20 years old and trying to steal from a child!? That's just ridiculous. Losers.

what a scary situation Caroline!! poor Ridge!! you are totally right, that was the wrong way for those men to try to get the skateboard if they thought it belonged to them. Bullies in my opinion! glad that Ridge is okay and that Thaniqua was such a big help! Cell phone is a good idea for them to have! hopefully they will get their confidence back to attempt to go to the skateboard again in the future since it is good within reason to have a little bit of independence

thanking God for watching over your children!

Unbelievable! So glad to hear that everything turned out okay! Very scary.... it's so sad that we have to be frightened all of the time.

Oh I am so sorry that this happened. It is so sad that a 20 year old would do that to a child! And sad that the police didn't seem to care enough to do something. It's a crazy world these days.

It would be good to give them the cell phone so that they can call for help whenever they are away from you. All of my grand kids over 10 have them. (I don't like all of the texting that ALL the kids do ALL The Time...but I like phones for the safety factor)

Glad they weren't hurt...but sorry they had that experience.
