Remembering Christmas

If you are missing someone you love this Christmas, someone of ANY age who is spending Christmas with Jesus this year, I hope you will join us on this very special Walking With You. We are sharing our Christmas memories and the ways that we remember our loved ones who have gone home to heaven at Christmas time. If you do not have a blog or do not wish to link a post, you may leave your Christmas memories in the comments below. If you do a post on your blog, come back and link up on the MckLinky following this post.

Christmas is different after the loss of two babies that we never got to meet. One thing that we do during the holiday season is take a boy and a girl from an Angel tree and buy for them. It is alot of fun and we usually make it a family affair as to what we buy. Trying to have everyone add there imput makes it so much fun. Another thing that we do is donate to our children's school for there Food Drive. We donate things that they don't normally get like Baby Food and diapers. We try to stop and think of the little ones who may need something like that. On our tree we have two angels one in blue which is a bunny angel since my first miscarriage was a boy. Then one in purple. The children have a bear that they put on every year for the babies.

Now I would like to share about how we remember my Dad. He loved Christmas I would have to say it was prolly his most favorite time of year. Every year at home the first thing we put up was not the christmas tree, it was the nativity. So that's one thing that I have always done even when I got my own place. He never wanted us to forget the real reason of Christmas. I can still remember that on Christmas morning Dad always read the story of Jesus's Birth out of the Bible and as we got older we each read a couple verses, before any presents were opened. I have been doing that now with our family. The kids picked out one for Grandpa which they never got the chance to meet but it has Mary and Joeseph on it, since Grandpa loved the Christmas story so much.

Last I remember my Grandma Zollars on my Mom's side. I spent alot of time with her growing up and she taught me alot. She passed away in 1999. One thing I tresure is she taught me how to crosstitch, so I made a Santa that hangs on our tree.

Sounds like you have some precious memories of your dad. Your ornaments for your angel babies are adorable. And the Angel tree tradition is nice. I love how you include all your kids, so special.

Trennia's comment was lovely! That is so cool how all those ornaments have stories behind them.

My grandma has been gone almost 30 years but I still remember as a kid that she loved me (and I knew it). One Christmas she had gotten me a Fisher Price record player with plastic records and had it wrapped. I refused to take a nap so she bribed me into it by showing me my present, and then she said I had to act surprised on Christmas so she wouldn't get in trouble, LOL. I miss her.

Beautiful memories, Caroline. I'm so glad you shared them with us. I love that you do the angel tree...and the ornaments are special too. Giving baby items to the food drive is also a great idea. Your dad sounds like a wonderful man...and it is great that you are carrying on such special traditions, and teaching your children the real reason we celebrate Christmas.

Praying that you will be filled with comfort and peace as He carries you through this Christmas season and in the coming year...

It's nice to have those ornaments to remember our loved ones. I bet the kids liked being able to help doing that. The memories we have with our loved ones are ones that we can pass on and create with the ones we cherish.

Those ornaments are all such precious ways to remember your loved ones at Christmas. That is neat that your Dad passed down that legacy of faith to you, and you are carrying it on for your own family. I also like your idea of including your kids in choosing items for the angel tree. Blessings, and God's grace and peace this Christmas!
