I knew this was coming , Marie my oldest girl decided that she wants to go by her first name instead of her middle name. So when she was born I didn't make it to the hospital so my friend that I was staying with at the time heard me scream for help. Her name is Shaniqua. Well I knew I wanted to name her Marie after my Dad's Mom who passed away when he was 6 months. So I decided to name her " Thaniqua Marie " of course her Dad hated it but I knew that we wouldn't be together and so I decided when she got old enough she could decide. Well today she said this is what I want to be called so Thaniqua it is my Big Girl. It will take some getting used to but I have called her that off and on so much cause I love so I thought I would share that all with you. We don't have a new girl just a different name.

Thaniqua is a pretty name - I think it's nice you gave her the liberty to be called that if she wanted to. One of my twins is Angelique, but she never did like that and chose to go by Angie when she was a teenager. So that's what we call her!
Love her first name!
That's interesting!! It's gonna take some getting used to since I'm so used to knowing her as Marie!!
Marie is a plain name and Thaniqua is pretty so I think it's cute she's changing it (always wondered what the story was behind it too!). My daughter sometimes wants to use her middle name, Christina, as her first name. I told her we could call her that at home, and after a day or two she's back to Melanie. ~Debbie
such a pretty name, Thaniqua! I have never heard it before. So when she is in school, was she Marie or Thaniqua?
betty
Most times it can go in the other direction where they don't like their name. So happy that she likes it and wants to use it. It will be hard getting use to it!
